The first truly anatomic ankle prosthesis, the Salto is an accepted alternative to total immobilization of the patient’s ankle. Developed in 1997 in close collaboration with Dr Michel Bonnin, Dr Jean-Alain Colombier and Prof Thierry Judet, it is now a reliable solution which is a world reference, permitting optimum reproduction of the ankle’s kinematics.

The Salto is an unconstrained and cementless prosthesis offering excellent primary and secondary fixation. The different sizes of its components (tibial implant, mobile insert and talar implant) give the surgeon freedom of choice and permit a customized solution for each case.

Indications

The Tornier total ankle prosthesis is indicated as a total ankle replacement device in primary or revision cases for patients whose ankle joint has been damaged following severe rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative or post-traumatic arthritis.
